What's New

We were lucky that our visit in 2019 was just before the first Covid lockdown, so of course we could not go in 2020 – how we missed it! To spend one week with a couple of other agate-lovers, simply plodding up and down a muddy ploughed field is not everyone’s idea of enjoyment, but we find it very relaxing, in spite of being physically tiring. As you just search for the next agate, everything else just goes out of your head – all the troubles of ordinary life seem unimportant in the middle of a field.

Then to relax in a cosy cottage, discussing where to go next day over a wee dram ... well, we enjoy it!

One more trip was possible in 2021 but by then Robin had been diagnosed with cancer and that was the last time we were able to go. We do still have many beautifully polished specimens and I still make the jewellery with the cabochons he cut, which I sell at Craft Fairs under our trade name of Stratagems.

Robin could enjoy looking at our own collection and remembering the happy times we spent in Scotland.

Robin died in April 2024
